Approximate Distance: 23 miles / 37.01 km
The Difficulty Level of This Route is: Easy
Time to Allow: This ride will take 1-2 hours.
Best Time to Go: Summer
This is a decent (and pretty) ride through the Gettysburg Battlefield. There are mild-moderate hills...no mountains, but the Roundtops can be daunting on a hot summer day. The traffic is light on the battlefield itself (heavier on weekends and during the summer due to tourist traffic) and most of the town riding is through quiet residential neighborhoods. Great ride during the fall...plenty of trees and empty roads. For pictures...google Gettyburg Battlefield (http://www.nps.gov/gett/) and look through the sites pictures... Tip: Bring water...there are only a few drinking fountains scattered around the national park (one is easily accessible in the bus pavilion at the new visitor center--it is in a small "buses only" parking lot) and the summers can be brutally hot (mid to upper 90s not uncommon from late May through August)
